About the ORA Speckled Carpet Shark Captive-Bred
Care Level: Expert
Reef Safe: No
Max Size: 2.5 feet
Minimum Tank Size: 200 gallons
Speckled Carpet Sharks are similar in shape and size to the Epaulette Shark with a long body, and small round paired pectoral and pelvic fins. The pattern of the Speckled Carpet Shark consists of densely spaced, fine spots, covering the head and body. The overall color is tan with dark brown saddles composed of darker clusters of spots.
Speckled Carpet Sharks are most active at night and typically remain stationary under a shelter during the day. We consider Speckled Carpet Sharks to be an expert only animal. They must be provided with a low stress environment with limited disruption, an easy to consume diet, and excellent water conditions.
We strongly urge anyone looking to keep a shark to thoroughly research the species prior to purchase. This shark needs a minimum of 200 gallons and carefully chosen tank mates.
